These days, I hypothesize that it's humanity's general bad attitude of 'atropism' that drives historical misogyny - a resentment at being put in such a discomforting 'life' situation , and a lashing out and 'punishing' of those who are seen as most responsible for having 'put us here'. *shrug*

Even as 'instinct' won't let us stop carrying on...

...squicked? (seriously, that rape scene was possibly the most offensive bit of film i've ever seen)

and thank you indeed for linking to that. *is astounded to see a guy put forth the 'womb envy' theory (which i've had since college, too) as the cause of so many different cultures' inherent misogyny*
