I think Grills is back-peddling a bit when he now says it was a spoof. I heard him on BBC Radio 4's Today news programme last week talking quite cogently about it, and it was actually an interesting interview. But he did end his five minutes with "Merry Christmas!", to hint he ain't a killjoy, and this actually took the interviewer by surprise.
