Maybe I've said this before, but...

... sometimes I feel like a poseur referring to myself as Gender Non-Conforming. I mean, sure, no makeup, no kids, who cares about clothes, blah blah, but the category includes so many people so much more conspicuous in their non-standard gender expression, including transgender people, so much more likely to be the targets of discrimination and violence. How can I use the term when I'm comfortably cis and safely married to a man, even if I still very occasionally get mistaken for a chap?

And then I read something like this: "58.7% of gender non-conforming students experienced verbal harassment in the past year because of their gender expression, as opposed to 29% of their peers." Yeah, that was me in high school. "Hey, lemon! Hey, lemon! Are you a lesbian?" Every five fucking minutes. Or so it seemed.

(OTOH, 29% of gender conforming students were also harassed about their gender expression?! I am hardly the first person to point this out, but if sex and gender are simple and natural, why is it necessary to guard the boundaries with so much violence?)
