The pun is mightier than - well, anyway...

Here's a complicated little knot of wordplay. In two languages.

G-Dragon's latest single is called "Crayon". The refrain is "Get your cray on". So first you need to know that "cray" is slang for "crazy"; he's singing about partying.

G-Dragon's stage name is itself a piece of wordplay: his real name is 권지용 Kwon Ji-yong, and 용 Yong is Korean for dragon. Geddit?

The lyrics of the song are a mix of Korean and English, not at all unusual in Kpop. When I looked them up, though, I was puzzled by the Korean version of the title: 크레용. That doesn't spell out "crayon", it spells out "crayong".

And then I got it. Cray Yong. *facepalm*

You and the my Grandgirls like G-Dragon, I like Zion.T, Primary, and we both like Simon D.

G-Dragon is mesmerising, but my true love is T.O.P.'s eyebrows. I have coined a term for this: "superciliphilia".

I'll investigate the other gentlemen you mention. ;)

btw, the end of BIGBANG's "Monster" gives me the creeps. What is that all about?!

I showed my girls this photo. They were very excited. TOP, huh? Good Lord, they're still giggling. And oh yeah, they explained to me about the play on words, it would appear that many of G-Dragon's songs are about him.

I haven't seen Monster yet. I'm kinda getting into TVXQ although they are quintessential Pop/bob band. They're almost too perfect in the sound and look. But they are very watchable and nice to listen to.

I posted a couple of Zion.T on my LJ. I like Primary which is another Korean Hip-Hop R&B group. Very Mello and soulful stuff.

I haven't seen Monster yet.

It's not the video which disturbed me - it's pretty pedestrian stuff - but the song itself, especially the last few lines. Is the character who's singing treacherous or pitiful? Or both? It really struck me. Come to think of it, I had a similar reaction when I read a translation of the lyrics of "Keep Your Head Down", which brings me to:

I'm kinda getting into TVXQ although they are quintessential Pop/bob band. They're almost too perfect in the sound and look. But they are very watchable and nice to listen to.

My inner eleven year old is a sucker for science fiction-y stuff like "Android" and "Humanoids". XD "Catch Me" sounds so eighties!
