Crap. Found a Web site with heaps of clever and funny t-shirts, including one which says "I'm blogging this", which I'd love to have (wish I'd had it for the high school reunion). Site also flogs dinosaur sexist Unix joke tee in which the command
man woman
does not compute. The site laboriously explains this means women don't make any sense. My solution: girlcott the neat tee, and email the site to tell them I'm doing so. Total saving around $AUD40. :-)

You know whose LJ you should read? [livejournal.com profile] commonreader. You'd have interesting social topics of conversation re women and society.

The only thing I don't understand about this post is why you haven't given us the name of this web site, so we can girlcott it too.

I've seen the Unix joke before, and always felt it was funny because it suggests men and women don't get along (which, of course, is always funny), but I'd intrigued to see how they twist this relatively simple joke into saying hat women do not make sense - especially if they do it laboriously!

man
is the command for "Help Manual." Interestingly,
man man
would get you a response. (Hmmmm, Unix slash?)

Oh, I knew that much. I guess I just looked at the joke in the context of the words, not the meaning behind the command; ie "man woman" doesn't make sense, rather than there's no manual page for a woman...

I think you're onto something with the Unix slash, though. Maybe that would make a good T-shirt?

Love the icon too.

It's thinkgeek.com. I reckon that instead of "segmentation fault", the response should be either "clitoris not found" or "woman not found". Truth in advertising. >:-)

Shouldn't that be backslash? Or is that too Microsoft for it to work?
