A sad indictment...

... searching inside books on the Amazon site, trying to remember if the Coleridge stuff is in the first Dirk Gently novel or the second one, when suddenly you realise that the books are sitting behind you on the shelf, not five feet away.

And I thought I was the only one who did that. :)

I almost did that thing where you answer the first question you see posed in a post before reading to the end to see if the poster worked it out themselves.

Weird how opening a new browser window is now more automatic than getting out of a chair, isn't it? I sometimes do the same thing when looking for directions: looking up street-directory.com.au even though my Melways is usally very close by.

The Web is my skrode.

...and I've literally just finished reading THE SALMON OF DOUBT and was trying to talk myself out of going back and re-reading the DG books.

You are NOT helping. :)

Thank you. I'm glad I'm not the only who finds it funny. Sometimes I alone understand my jokes.

*facepalm*

I go to an online dictionary rather than stand partly up to get at dictionary *three feet away*.

Ergonomics in action. Nothing wrong with that.

Plus, you're keeping your paper dictionary in good condition, in case you ever need to solve a large number of urgent crosswords during an extended internet outage. =:o}

Good grief, I do that all the time, and hadn't even thought about it!
