Petrol industry guy on the radio complaining that ethanol enjoys tax breaks, and that as a fuel it ought to be made to compete 'on its own merits'. He should hold onto that claim until somewhere in the world a war breaks out over booze.

I remember reading somewhere once that Prohibition actually made things worse in the end, by tilting the nation's drinking habits toward the harder stuff (which was easier to find on the black market, because a still was easier to hide than a brewery).
I don't know if it's true, but I suspect that another seventy years from now people will be saying something similar about the War on Drugs.
