Have just sent my apologies to the Macquarie Ancient Languages School. I had hoped to have rallied over the weekend, but I'm still absolutely flattened. No more Hittite for me, alas.

Have you ever seen The Egyptian? Highly authentic recounting of the Amarna period. Anyway, the Hittites invent iron, which is clever of them, and our hero Sinuhe asks to be paid for his medical services with a iron sword, which the Hittite commander (who I have just realised was Michael Ansara cheers cheers cheers) has been saving up for a surprise attack on Egypt. Oh all right, quoth he: "Tomorrow there will be no secret. And the day after that, there will be no Egypt!"

... uhhh, I just woke up, can you tell?

The cigarette is held in a little tuck of his lips that seem almost to have been carved for the purpose. He is the famous "smoking gargoyle" of Sydney University,located in the vestibule of the Nicholson Gate.

No, I have not seen "The Egyptian". Sounds highly unusual.
