If you comment...

1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
or, I will include an icon just for YOU in my reply)
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people. Ok, must is a little strong. But it would only be fair.

6. It's from 9 1/2 Minutes, that short film.
7. Ah, you're like me in two ways: (a) disabled by health problems and (b) giving yourself no credit for being able to write funny shit. Given much support and sufficient time I think you could write the all-time funniest Marxist fantasy novel ever.

I'm doing it backwards. I'm putting Step 8 in other people's journals. Others can do 1-7 in response if they so wish. :)

7. Was there ever really a question about you two choosing to live in Sydney?

From: [identity profile] jblum.livejournal.com
Oooh, I can answer #7 at least!

Yes, there was serious question. We'd originally decided to do it the other way around, but I could see Kate getting more and more apprehensive about how limited she'd be up in Gaithersburg without a car, and having to walk everywhere, and oh God Washington in August, and quite frankly seeming heartbroken at the thought of leaving everything she knew behind. So I thought, hell, I loved Sydney when I was there for six months, and it'd be easier for me to move.

And as a result I've missed everyone up there terribly for years, and lost touch with far too many people... but I figure it was for the best.

Maybe someday we might still head back up that way for good -- assuming the entire city hasn't become one big mass of gridlock...

It's funny -- after being in Sydney all I could think was that there must've never been even a question as to where you two would end up living. Truly, one of the most inviting cities I've ever visited.

One of Mark Steel's radio lectures, which shows up on Radio National from time to time, is about Charles Darwin and evolution. At one point, bouncing off Darwin's remark that the Ichneumonidae are unlikely to be the deliberate work of a beneficent God, Steel launches into a verse of "All Things Bright and Beautiful" specifically about the little blighters. I can't recall it off-hand, but I'm sure I have a recording around here somewhere...

No, it's specifically about the ichneumon wasp:

It lands on caterpillars
And eats them from inside
To make sure that the meat's fresh
It keeps the thing alive

All things bright etc.

7. practising for fun, mostly. altho I've never had life drawing classes, or anatomy lessons, which may explain my poor consistancy from frame to frame, and my dire skill with hands.. eye's I'm GREAT with, and some poses.. hands I'm just terrible at.
