A behind-the-scenes glimpse of the writing of The Year of Intelligent Tigers. I recently rediscovered this authorial note-to-self and was mildly amused. It reads: "Tigers in fliers, tigers with tyres. Fix up earlier Tiddles ref. Losing yourself. Tiger descs. from photos. Tigers belong in the zoo. Big = Wang [Chinese: "emperor" - the character is seen in the stripes on some tigers' heads]."
