RIP Rob Reiner

The news broke a little while ago that Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead in their home.

Based on several articles, it looks like it's being investigated as a possible (or maybe probable would be the better word?) homicide.

The Joining Exchange

The Joining Exchange, a Dragon Age exchange focusing on Grey Wardens that just started this year, went live a little while ago. I got not one, not two, but three lovely gifts this year!

First up is Something Out Of The Ordinary, set during Dragon Age: Inquisition and featuring Alistair/Cullen Rutherford/Female Surana. 23,267 words.

Next is L’Hymne à L’Amour, set prior to Dragon Age: The Veilguard and featuring Antoine/Evka Ivo. 3,142 words.

And then there's in on it, set after Dragon Age: The Veilguard and featuring Antoine/Ashur | The Viper/Evka Ivo/Tarquin. 1,539 words.

A few good things (and one not so good)

My one Yuletide treat is finished, edited and sent for beta-reading. And that’s it when it comes to Yuletide treats from me this year. Because, and this is that one not so good thing, my right elbow started hurting a lot again.

Speaking of Yuletide - my gift appeared a few days ago, and I shook it. And I can’t wait to read it. Just ten days. But I have to say that for me it’s a bit of a pity that they moved works reveal from morning on 25th to evening on 24th. Usually it was around 10 am on 25th here, and at that time I could sit down and read my gift with no interruptions, and write a proper, enthusiastic comment instantly. Now it’s around 10 pm on 24th. I will probably be able to read my gift right away. But commenting, and reading other fics, will have to wait till the next day. I usually go to sleep around 10:30 p.m., and at this time a night I certainly don’t have enough mental power for reading and commenting on fanfic, just enough for watching fluffy dramas. 😊

Another good thing is news that Thai BL drama Mandate is coming to Gagaoolala. It starts airing there on December 19th. I hope it means that more people will watch it, since it will be more easily available than before. It’s such a good drama, I wish it had a bit bigger fandom.

Dramas I chose to watch lately are good, too. Especially The Price of Confession. I’m so enthralled by this drama that I barely watched anything else the last few days. I’m especially in love with Kim Go Eun, who is absolutely amazing and beautiful, and perfect. I still have an episode and a half to watch, which I plan to do tomorrow. I will write a longer post with a lot of gushing after I watch all of it. And if my poor elbow will let me.

Burnout Syndrome episode 3

Ok, I’m fully in a DewGun camp. Sorry, Off. 😊

More with spoilers (and one a bit NSFW pic) here.Koh still annoys me a lot. And they gave him a sob story about his parents’ bankruptcy. And I don’t care, still don’t like him.

And, like I’ve said, there is a lot of red color on Pheem, too.

“Would you say it’s weird of me if I said I want his life to be even more fucked up, just so he keeps coming back to me?

Wow, Pheem, you’re not just weird, you’re fucked up and you’re an asshole. But I guess that’s why Mr “I find red flags exciting” Jira likes him. Even though for now it looks like that infatuation goes only one way, since yes, Pheem is down bad, as he himself admits. But Jira only goes to Pheem when he can’t get what he wants from Koh, and he wants a distraction.

But ahhh that interrupted make out... That brief kiss, and Pheem’s hand so high on Jira’s thigh...

That was so fricking hot, and I want more. 😍

365 Questions 2025

12. What have you lost interest in recently? I haven't lost interest in anything in particular but things I like doing, like sewing and puzzles, are much harder to do while I'm living in my daughter's basement. I do find that I'm less motivated to knit and crochet I guess.

13. What makes life easier? Having enough money to keep yourself adequately clothed, fed, and sheltered. Having reasonably good physical health and fitness. Understanding how the culture in which you're living functions.

14. What was the last thing you furiously argued about with someone? It was a long time ago; the person I was arguing with was S.

Today, besides being somewhat snow-centric, has been quite food-centric, especially for my daughter. Yesterday she made a two-ingredient chocolate mousse; the ingredients were canned peaches and dark chocolate, and it was absolutely delicious, smooth and creamy with just a hint of sweetness and peach flavour. So this afternoon she made another batch, as well as making a batch of marshmallows using stewed apples and gelatine. This mixture had to be beaten for 20 minutes and because my daughter only has a hand mixer, I volunteered to do the mixing while reading, after Aria had done some of the work for a couple of minutes. Another food thing was that Aria chopped up a lot of brussels sprouts which my daughter roasted. When they were cooked Aria ate three servings, and my daughter was a bit worried that she would get a stomach ache and go off brussels sprouts altogether.

It snowed for most of the morning and we ended up with about 2 ½ to 3 inches accumulation. There's a slight chance of more snow late tomorrow, but mostly we're in for colder weather for the next few days.

A different fic....

"He took the Walkman out of his pocket and flipped through the songs in the cassette."

Oh, sweetie. That's... that's just not how cassette tapes work. Not even overseas. You fast forward or rewind - literally winding the tape again - and hope that your timing is amazing. I mean, with practice I guess you can get pretty good, but still.

Heated Rivalry

Wow, so I read Heated Rivalry in anticipation of the tv show, and tbh I did not really like the book! But I am head-over-heels for the show, oh my god. It's hitting all of my feelings. I saw someone on meme say that it has disrupted their Seasonal Affective Disorder, and honestly same? Wow.

I think the serial nature of its release is contributing here - I had not realized just how much I missed the weekly anticipation of a new episode! More streaming shows should be like this, tbh.

Anyway, I have fallen hard enough that I am writing a soulmates (TiMER) AU on bluesky in between trying to wrap up my Yuletide assignment. I am furiously refreshing the What Chaos youtube channel in breathless anticipation of their next episode reaction (already 2 days late!! get on this, guys!!). I am buying every song on bandcamp (because the music is STELLAR, like for real, haven't seen music cues this great since my SPN days). I am eating up every rec and little detail and gifset that crosses my path. I've watched all of the current episodes at least twice and will almost definitely rewatch Friday's episode again today.

I'm going to be home for the holidays visiting family when the final episode airs, and I am already trying to decide if I will get up early to watch it or if I will have to wait until after everyone else goes to bed that night to finish it.

If you are watching this, please come yell with me about it!

I don't quite relish the idea of going out in it, and god knows where our shovel went, but gosh, I love looking at the snow!

[livre] Le mouton d'Arüth

Titre : Le mouton d'Arüth
Auteure : Jade Michelon
Langue : français
Type : album illustré
Genre : fantasy

1ère parution : 2024
Édition : n/a
Format : 35 pages

Cute, pretty kiddie book about a young boy and a magical sheep.

Wake up, Dead Man! (Film Review)

Aka the third Benoit Blanc mystery plotted and directed by Rian Johnson. Now, each of these movies has a main character who is not Blanc whose fate and/or motivation to solve the mystery is at the heart of the story - Martha in Knives Out and Helen in Glass Onion respectively - and in this case it's Father Jud, played (well and movingly) by Josh O'Connor. In each case, the movie's structure harks back to the classic age of detective mysteries with various twists and turns and a grand denouemonet while also commenting on the here and now in its social satire. If Glass Onion among other things went for the tech bros and the self satisfied "disruptors", Wake up, Dead Man! is very much about the US under the Orange Menace despite his name not mentioned even once. And lo and behold - it even offers hope. And hey, there is even a Star Wars gag. (Just for the record, I still stand by The Last Jedi being the only one of the sequel movies which actually tries to do something new and creative with the franchise. #RianJohnsonwasRight . The gag has nothing to do with that at all, though.)

Random perspectives in time

Eighty years before this year, WWII ended.

Eighty years before WWII ended, the American Civil War ended.

So we are as far away from (or as close to) WWII, as the people in WWII were from (or to) the Civil War.

IDK, it's interesting to think about. Something Elizabeth Samet has written about, a bit, too.

I only wrote a very short version of that fic where Steve Rogers was a civil war vet, who was frozen until Tony from Iron Man Noir found him, but I was always fond of that idea.

Rec-cember #2: Doctor Odyssey

Two fics and two vids about the Ody3 ship Max/Tristan/Avery! I'm going to miss this show.

Winning Hand by roseblushvision
She had been keenly aware of how Tristan and Max barely touched each other that night, and when they did, they tried to play it off as accidental. There had been a curiosity there, but not one that either of them had felt free enough to satisfy. At that moment, Avery didn't think twice about it–she would never make them do anything they didn’t want to do–but the past few weeks have made her wonder if the only thing keeping them from crossing that line was their own unnecessary inhibitions.

Well, it’s not really wondering, actually. She’s quite convinced.

The job talk-turned flirting, and the way Avery leads the guys to a place where they can try something new with each other is so plausible, plus the make-out is hot. The Max/Tristan of it all!

Gonna Want to Get Involved by asexual-fandom-queen (writeordietrying)
They’ve been in this thing with Avery, for better or worse, for a few weeks, and while the matter of what that makes Max and Tristan to each other hasn’t come up, it’s been the unspoken elephant in the room.

Max and Tristan finally connect their side of the triangle. Avery has a front row seat to watch.

Tristan's confidence is so sexy in this, plus I love how the gentle intimacy and familiarity they've built with each other is showcased.
