Dear fandom

Time Lord is two words, as here. Two words. Both capitalised. I thank you.

I noticed this on the Wiki Who project last night. I was tempted to add myself to the list of contributors and correct them all...

But what about Timelordhood?

[identity profile] jvowles.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think THAT is the type of "hood" being referenced....

[identity profile] jeriendhal.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
So, "Timelordians" is right out then?

[identity profile] doyle_sb4.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course it is! Otherwise the Face of Boe's four words couldn't be "take me, Time Lord".

[identity profile] lordalius.livejournal.com 2007-04-08 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes... Yes! This has bugged me forever, too. That, and people who insist on "Tardis" instead of "TARDIS".

But how do you feel about T.A.R.D.I.S. or T A R D I S? Both of which I have seen. Recently. Seriously.

[identity profile] lordalius.livejournal.com 2007-04-09 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ouchy ouch ouch. It takes so long to type, with all the periods... ;)

Guilty.

To be fair though, in the very first Dr Who book 'Dr Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks' - and all subsequent reprints - Dr Who's time machine is referred to as 'Tardis', and this is treated as a name (rather than an acronym).

So who's to say which is correct, eh?

[identity profile] lordalius.livejournal.com 2007-04-10 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... that's true enough, but there is an awful lot of opposing evidence on the other side of the discussion. :) Also, there are a few Target novels that refer to him as "Dr. Who" but that doesn't mean it's really his name.

Not that I'm losing sleep over any of this.

[identity profile] jhg.livejournal.com 2007-04-10 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but "Hello I'm Dr. Who" is *much* funnier. Especially for winding up the, ah, rather more serious fans...

No, see, when people say "Timelords," they're actually talking about the KLF circa 1988 ("Doctorin' the Tardis"). It's not about Gallifreyans at all.

THANK YOU, YES. ARGH.

Sigh. My copy of "Walking to Babylon" that I ordered from Amazon has an estimated arrival date of April 11th-April 25th. That's a pretty broad estimate. "Fallen Gods" has the same estimate, and "Blue Box" won't get here until May 5-May 19th, but then, I ordered it with the three Torchwood books, and I bet they have to be imported.

Waiting sucks.

I wish I had found the blog _first_, and THEN ordered the books, 'cause I would have just got them straight from you, Kate. But it was digging around for them on Amazon that reminded me that I hadn't had any OrmanBlum news in a while and led me to search out this site... it will all work out in the end.

Or will it all end in a work out?

*groans* You've just reminded me: it's gym day.

YOU WILL OBEY.

Two words. Both capitalised.

Unless of course a Dalek is saying the two words, in which case EVERY LETTER IS CAPITALISED.

I thank you.

DALEKS DO NOT REQUIRE THANKS.
