DW S4 SPOILERY speculation

I'm pretty lax about SPOILERS here, but this definitely belongs behind a cut. You have been warned.

I can't wait for Jack to meet up with Rose. Obviously it'll be sexy and squeezy; but they're also going to have to have a Talk about what she did to him. Something she doesn't even remember doing, and has no way to undo. And that's gonna be hella interesting.

That's what I'd LIKE to have happen, but after the extensive "You are wrong" convo he and the Doctor already had, they might think there's no more ground to cover. Or maybe Jack will want to spare Rose the guilt.

Plus I suspect they will want to pack those last eps with so much ACTION that all the cool character interactions we're hoping for will end up being a line or two each at most.

I have no trust left. Bastards.

Well, it has to be addressed somehow, if only because Jack's useful hit point bungee jumping skill will make itself known at some point.

I'd love another scene like the long talk Jack and the Doctor have in Utopia.

See, I think she'll be all guilty about it but then he'll reassure her it's alrite and that he's coping with it. Even if he's not. Just to make her feel better.

Did you hear about them adding an extra week on to their shooting schedule for the finale? They say it's going to be extra-length, so five days looks like another 12-15 minutes. There'll be space.

Of course, as in last year, because of pacing reasons across the three-parter much of the character space will probably be in episodes 11 and 12, like the long character scenes Kate mentioned in Utopia... and of course people will be bitching if any one week out of a multi-week story doesn't give their favorite character enough to do. Honestly, kids today, they don't know they're born, back in the day you'd have all your character scenes in part three of six and like it...

*And* those scenes in part three were padding where UNIT bitched pointlessly amongst themselves.

Aaah! Your icon is so sweet :D

Does Jack even realize it was Rose who did this? I've gotten the feeling he believes the Doctor is somehow responsible.

[identity profile] outsdr.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Furthermore, if Rose doesn't realize she did it, she's going to be very surprised to see him alive.

Further furthermore, if Rose doesn't realize she did it, and never saw him dead, she has no way of knowing Jack was ever killed... She'll be all, "Oh hai Jack! Why'd you stay behind on the Nerva Beacon, I mean the Game Station?" and Jack will be all, "ZOMG I wuz DED and then I WUZNT!" and Rose will be all "NO WAI!!! How did zat hapun?" but they'll be distracted by a cheezeburger and there will be no further answers and I just woke up and need more coffee nao...

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
In the Children In Need thingy, the Doctor bullshits to Rose that Jack has stayed behind to help rebuild human civilisation or whatever.

I like your cheezeburger plot idea very much.

Ah... you see, my mind is a like a steel sieve and my crystal-captured memories of past episodes are all now rendered to water-colored puppet shows.

The aristocrats.

The only difference between you and the rest of fandom is that you acknowledge this.

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2008-04-28 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah - the Doctor made that clear to him in Utopia.

Duh, that's right. ***drinks even more coffee***

I'm kinda looking forward to Jack and Mickey meeting up again. Because they both run Torchwood, admittedly in different universes but they do do the same job nonetheless.

Also I have terrible ideas about Jack meeting Donna. That would just be too funny.

[identity profile] jblum.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Five will get you ten she's already met him, about half a dozen times, while investigating all the weirdness in Cardiff, and she's been retconned every single time...

[identity profile] becky-da-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-04-29 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm... has she been investigating in Cardiff?

[identity profile] fred-god-of.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally want to see Jack and Donna, just cause she is older than Martha or Rose and I want to see how she takes takes him. I want to see Jack/Sarah Jane even more, but now she's off limits on Kiddie TV :-(

[identity profile] becky-da-wolf.livejournal.com 2008-05-11 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Donna will really take to Jack. I worked out an equation for why they'd be brilliant together:

(Donnatude + Donna boobies)(Jack charm + Jack smile) = Win!
or
DtJc + DtJs + DbJc + DbJs = Win!

As each of those factors increases, so does the win.

I think Jack and Sarah Jane would not get on. I recon they've probably crossed paths before investigating aliens and got in each others way. I have this mental scenario of them meeting at the end of the series (probably on the TARDIS). It'd go something like this:

Sarah Jane: You!
Jack: You!
Sarah Jane: (turns to the Doctor) What is he doing here?
Jack: (turns to the Doctor) What is she doing here?
The Doctor: (looks baffled) I'm sorry, have you met?

I have far too much spare thinking time.

[identity profile] fred-god-of.livejournal.com 2008-05-12 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! exactly, except I read this one fic where Jack seduced her and wiped her computer of some file on Torchwood or another, and now my brain is convinced that that so totally did happen :-)
