Oh, that was weird

So I'm watching Ludvig von B. dying at the start of the film, and it's all done in almost total silence - just the muffled sound of the storm outside. His grieving pupil's lips move, but we can't hear what she's saying to him in his dying moments. Brilliant! thought I, after the initial confusion. Of course, that's all the poor bastard would've been able to hear. What a clever artistic decision, bringing us into the maddening silence of his last years.

Then the next scene came on, and I realised the TV had got accidentally bumped onto "mono" again.

I think it defaults to that when you turn it on! *sigh*

Nice alternative beginning to the film.

Did you go back and watch it with the sound on?

Sheepishly, yeah. I think my version was probably more realistic, though.

Don't worry, I do things like that. Like leaving the mute on and wondering if I've gone deaf.

*giggles behind hand*
