(no subject)

A reminder to me to mend my Google Twitching snobbery: Twitter user leaves site after thousands ridicule question. That could've happened to anybody - even me.

ETA: A bizarre thing. Sir Philip Mitchell (upon whose 1955 essay "Africa and the West in historical perspective" I have drawn for Documentary) somehow managed to govern Uganda for five years and Kenya for eight without ever finding out that Africans had, in fact, used writing, woven textiles, built in stone, etc, before colonisation. And here I sit, never having set foot on the African continent, and yet able to contradict him at the touch of a button.

hǎo hǎo

I am watching what would be a very ordinary chat show, except that the conversation is being held in Korean, Mandarin, English, and (inadvertently, now and again) Japanese, to everyone's amusement. Welcome to the future, folks!

ETA: There are so many little things I'm picking up. The word for "magic spell" is the same in Korean, Japanese, and at least one Chinese topolect. Taemin's name written in Chinese includes a character I remember from stamp collecting. How many fandoms come complete with word puzzles?! No wonder I'm hooked!

Brain

If these intermittent attacks of the crazies are the result of my meds, I shall be very put out. I thought they might be little manic swings, but there's nothing euphoric or creative about them - just an inability to focus on anything more complex than the rat pleasure lever of the Internet. Can't read, can't make dinner, etc. Agitation? Overstimulation? No twitching or pacing, but quite a bit of hanging onto my head as if trying to hold my brain still. tl;dr This sucks, whatever it is, and we shall conquer it.
