Another WOFTAM

Labor caucus accepts move to excise mainland from migration zone

This would mean the tiny number of asylum seekers who get to Australia's mainland by boat, rather than reaching one of the already-excised outlying islands, could be sent for off$hore proce$$ing in Nauru or PNG.

Qouth the Greens' Sarah Hanson-Young: "The government will say that this is about discouraging people from getting on boats but it is clear that the only way to achieve that is by offering people safer pathways, not by removing people's fundamental right to apply for asylum in Australia... this Labor Government is now going to try to enact legislation that is so discriminatory and un-Australian that John Howard faced an internal revolt when he tried it in 2006."

Yet another WTF!? moment from our elected representatives. Scary things is, it might get through. Labor wants re-election more than anything. This proves it.

So, wait - if the mainland is taken out of the migration zone, is there any migration zone left?

You know, I had to think about this question for several minutes before I even understood it. *turns into cockroach and gives up*

I think this officially marks the moment the ALP lost its' soul.
