Had a shot at the dentist. I was desperate. Only afterwards did I ask, and discover it was just bloody lidocaine. Harmless! Another mountain conquered.

You'll just have to aim better next time!

So terrified was I of the idea of a needle being inserted into my freaking gum, and other terrible things besides, my last visit entailed Valium and laughing gas to get a filling done. I broke into tears afterwards - because I hadn't felt a damned thing and it was amazing to me that that was even possible.

Also I was kind of floaty but I didn't care. Valium will do that to you.

Well done!

I took a boyfriend to the clinic on Wednesday, and sat with him while the nurse took a blood sample - he's scared of needles, but working on it.

The first time I went to the clinic, they took a blood sample from one arm and pumped the other full of Hep A and B vaccines. Then I fainted. Thankfully, I was being treated by someone with the build of a shot-putter, and he caught me!

(While I no longer mind needles [so much], I really hate dental injections simply because the drugs hurt as they go into the gum. It's the pressure change, I think.)
