This is remarkable. Because the main characters are kids, HP fandom generates a lot of extremely dubious filth, but this comic actually handles the subject with grace and restraint and even manages to be romantic. Also, fireplace Snape is damn sexy.
Oh, I don't mean the characterisation - I mean he's an arsehole. This essay is eloquent on the subject of Sirius, the Bully Who Got Away With It (Sort Of). Warning: horrible and depressing true story of school bullying.
Actually, come to think of it, Gary Oldman kind of sucks too.
That does seem to be one of the main points Rowling is making about the old gang, and it becomes blatant in book 5. Alas for Harry, things are not particularly simple...
As of this moment, I've read PS, skim-read CS and PoA for the Snape bits, and I intend to tackle the next two books too. I've snuck peeks at the later books, and picked up more from the fanfic and art - for example, I now get this where before it was merely bizarre. :-)
I didn't read the original article in full detail, but I certainly believe the map has special programming in it just for Snape!
I also think over-analysing something before you actually read it can lead to all sorts of problems but, y'know, these things happen :-)
(I was quite strange comparing what I'd heard about Angel S5 on the Buffy playtest list with what actually appeared. It just skews the emphasis somewhat)

I'm not *quite* so shallow. :-)* Started OotP last night and was hooked by chapter 1. Very scary - a gang of bullies, Harry being a bit of a bully himself. I detect themons, Captain. I've got them out of order, haven't I? *rewinds to Goblet of Fire*
Yes, Sirius Black does kinda of suck. I believe this so firmly and for such god reasons that I was actually able to convince one of my friends who previously loved Sirius that he is teh SuX0r. Spread the word, stop the Black love. (except for Remus, though misguided, he's allowed to love Sirius)

It scares me that having never read the books or seen the films, I seem to know who most of the people in them are. Damn fandom!

Tabatha vs Ginny!
The Witches Council v the Gryffindor Quiddith team!
All good stuff.
Unfortunately they don't have it on the DVD, but my favourite ad from CoS was on TV. It went something like.
"A new year, blah blah... And a young wizard comes into his DESTINY!"
It was very exciting.
