Pimpage

Unadulterated brilliance - and incredibly, no Snape!

Speaking of whom, Sirius Black kind of sucks.

I clicked that expecting HP pr0n drawings again. I feel cheated! You cheated me!

Things go better with Snape.

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
This is remarkable. Because the main characters are kids, HP fandom generates a lot of extremely dubious filth, but this comic actually handles the subject with grace and restraint and even manages to be romantic. Also, fireplace Snape is damn sexy.

[identity profile] nostalgia-lj.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
That was scarily non-squicky. Rushes the subject *maybe* but, omg, theirtruelovewaits!

It scares me that having never read the books or seen the films, I seem to know who most of the people in them are. Damn fandom!

I remain gloriously ignorant of Stargate SG 1. I even thought the chap in your ikon was from it until my Mum corrected me.

*uses sgwun icon helpfully*

It's like Voyager in that it is both awful and somehow wonderful. And it have THOR TEH ALIEN OMG!!!!eleven!!

Which Sirius Black, out of curiosity? I think he's good in the books, but far too rushed on screen.

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't mean the characterisation - I mean he's an arsehole. This essay is eloquent on the subject of Sirius, the Bully Who Got Away With It (Sort Of). Warning: horrible and depressing true story of school bullying.

Actually, come to think of it, Gary Oldman kind of sucks too.

[identity profile] ashamel.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
That does seem to be one of the main points Rowling is making about the old gang, and it becomes blatant in book 5. Alas for Harry, things are not particularly simple...

(Have you read OotP out of curiousty?)

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
As of this moment, I've read PS, skim-read CS and PoA for the Snape bits, and I intend to tackle the next two books too. I've snuck peeks at the later books, and picked up more from the fanfic and art - for example, I now get this where before it was merely bizarre. :-)

[identity profile] ashamel.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't read the original article in full detail, but I certainly believe the map has special programming in it just for Snape!

I also think over-analysing something before you actually read it can lead to all sorts of problems but, y'know, these things happen :-)

(I was quite strange comparing what I'd heard about Angel S5 on the Buffy playtest list with what actually appeared. It just skews the emphasis somewhat)

David C
(Who is otherwise discussing RPG rules with my co-writer, so sorry if I'm intruding)

(Not that you need care about that, if you're just reading the Snape stuff)

Sorry, I'll stop now.

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not *quite* so shallow. :-)* Started OotP last night and was hooked by chapter 1. Very scary - a gang of bullies, Harry being a bit of a bully himself. I detect themons, Captain. I've got them out of order, haven't I? *rewinds to Goblet of Fire*

OMG, it's Bewitched!!!

Um. Vladamir Putin or the flying car?

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Uncle Vernon with business guests over for dinner and magic mucking up his major deal!

Snape is Endora's bit on the side eh. I can so see this.

[identity profile] ashamel.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Samantha vs Voldemort!

Tabatha vs Ginny!

The Witches Council v the Gryffindor Quiddith team!

All good stuff.

Unfortunately they don't have it on the DVD, but my favourite ad from CoS was on TV. It went something like.

"A new year, blah blah... And a young wizard comes into his DESTINY!"

It was very exciting.

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Destiny is a brand of rubber duck

I say, isn't Colin, the little boy with the camera, just as cute as a button?

[identity profile] ashamel.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Just noticed the date on the bullying discussion. Thought it sounded somewhat pre-Phoenix. Anyway, they were spot on :-)

[identity profile] severa.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Sirius Black does kinda of suck. I believe this so firmly and for such god reasons that I was actually able to convince one of my friends who previously loved Sirius that he is teh SuX0r. Spread the word, stop the Black love. (except for Remus, though misguided, he's allowed to love Sirius)

[identity profile] kateorman.livejournal.com 2004-07-22 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
*fan theory* Sirius split them up OMG!!!
