I wonder what the heck Sheik Omran actually said? Did he really blame the drought on the infidel? I've heard both Christians and Pagans put the case that "out of control secular scientific values" are at least partly responsible for the environmental crisis, and that a more spiritual attitude to the Earth would help save us. But it's impossible to tell from the brief quotes the media are copying off each other what Omran's actual speech said.

I don't know if you've seen it or not, but SMH says:

I assume those are "the brief quotes the media are copying off each other", since they also appear in the article Kate linked to.

Oh, it's on the TV news as well? I didn't know that; I gave up on TV news long ago. (Come to think of it, I'd have given up on the newspapers as well if it weren't for the comics page.)

...it's not just the quotes. Unless there's something Google News isn't finding, it's the same article hitch-hiking from paper to paper.
