One of the most interesting talks I've been to was from an Australian researcher talking about the differences between the US and the Australian method of targeting groups at high risk of HIV/Hep infections. (OK, it was also interesting because he showed us a film of people shooting up - first time I'd seen it, and god does scar tissue look bloody awful when it's a metre high. I'm digressing.) I'm just trying to remember his name so I can link to his very interesting review article, which would be helpful. One of the things that stayed with me after the talk though, was that when he went to CDC to research in 1988 the main cause of infections in the US was injecting drug use - and there was nobody at CDC or, as far as he could tell, in the US targeting that group. It was fascinating to say the least.
