More Mork and Mindy

Mork made an umph! A disturbingly hairy umph. Shortly to be documented at [livejournal.com profile] euw_wit.

Mindy's grandmother, who spars with Mindy's dad (Conrad Janis, another medal-deservee), always calls him a "weiner", resulting in the fabulous line: "I have a bad case of weiner fatigue". Although the show's extremely, erm, family-oriented, occasional filth does slip through, as when Mork falls in love with a mannequin, tries to stand her up in front of him, and she starts going down to her knees. "No no!"

It's fun to see another alien character who knows as much about love and relationships as the Doctor. :-)

You've suddenly reminded me of watching Mork and Mindy as a child and there being a scene where Mork - for some reason - suddenly becomes really aggressive, yelling about something having opened "a little door in my head", smashing things up. I must have been under ten, but I do remember it as being both alarming and incredibly erotic.

Odd.

It's frightening to think how many peoples' nascent sexuality must have been influenced by Mork.

After consulting an episode guide, I reckon the story you're describing is "Mork's Mixed Emotions", in which Mindy kisses Mork and all his pent-up emotions explode. A bit like in Star Trek: Generations, I imagine.

Frightening, maybe, but also infinitely mysterious. Perhaps it's why today I won't *always* find Robin Williams violently irritating, in which it appears I am alone.

I was surprised to find, looking at Wikipedia stuff about it after your posting, just how happy it made me just to see Mork's rainbow braces again.

Like I say, odd!

Williams was great on Whose Line Is It Anyway?!

Should I know what an umph is?

Kermit the frog without the puppet. Long family tradition.

Thanks for the explanation. And the picture. Which I notice also includes umphs with horns (or long ears, or possibly eyestalks) - do they have a special name?

Those are mules.

*ahem*

"Mules eat umphs - but umphs do not eat mules!
Mules eat umphs - but umphs do not eat mules!
Wit wit, euw wit euw wit euw wit" etc

(apologies to Mozart)
