International Divide By Zero Day

Had a nightmare about the bloody LHC. Terrible fight with my family: would we reconcile before Earth was turned into a giant plasticine dog? Also, Spike was there.

And then, it was time for your math test! But you hadn't studied!

And you were naked.

Incredibly, not this time.

I know exactly what you mean. It's rare these days for me to have a dream in which I'm NOT taking a math test.

My shrink lolled when I told him my recurring nightmares, all of which are commonplace:

- I forgot to take my maths classes all semester and an exam is coming up.

- Can't find the classroom. (This occurs in immense non-Euclidian versions of my actual schools and universities.)

- Naked at work. (Spare clothes kept in dream version of work locker for this eventuality. Srsly.)

- Fight with family / fight with husband. :(

- Somehow involved in Doctor Who production. Sad.

- Must hover, as feet under attack by sharks / crocodiles.

- Can fly. Unless I realise I'm dreaming, in which case, can't.

- On stage without script.

- Infinite washing up / packing / luggage.

- Quest for loo.

I haven't had "end of the world", "imminent execution", or "invulnerable attacker" for a long time, thankfully.

About 15 years ago, I went through a phase were I was having frequent dreams about my son. He was never older than a toddler; most frequently an infant. And I'd wake up and remember that I've never fathered a child, and my heart would just ache from the loss.

It was very strange. You're the first person I've ever told.

I dream about my daughter regularly. Unfortunately, if this last round of IVF doesn't work, that all she'll be. I understand why you ache.

- Quest for loo.

oh god, i am plagued with these. i wish my subconscious would just realize that they're only my bladder's way of getting attention and either shift into a different dream, or just wake tfu alrady.

also - i am hereby stealing that title for a fantasy story or reality tv series. looquest 2008!

It's just such a tiny chance :) That we could all die horribly as in the whole F@#KING world in a black hole. I mean it's mind bogglingly smaller than being run over by a bus tomorrow and we don't say heartfelt goodbyes every time we go out the door - but I'm not so arrogant as to bring the whole world with me when I cross the road. It's a terrible precedent - if they're going to do stupidly clever experiments that may or may not affect us all, shouldn't we all get to vote on it?

I bet they turn that thing on and drain the electric energy of all of Switzerland, and nothing happens. Except pissing everyone in Switzerland off, making them never turn the damn thing on again. And make scientists cry because they wasted so much money on it.

Or... we get Bizarro-Switzerland, which goes from being Neutral in all world affairs to being a force that takes over the entire Earth in one day with it's brand new supercollider weapon... :(

I want to see scientists crying. Don't you?
