WhoVention

What a weekend! Bill and Michelle's (and Jon's) signing on Saturday was luverly, as was travelling to and fro Canberra, with a stop in Berrima for gourmet food purchases.

Our visit to WhoVention on Sunday is still a jumble of stuff in my mind. My half hour babble about writing went fine and got some laffs, though not as many as Katy Manning interviewing Rob Shearman, which was hilarious - if there's video footage I bet you can hear me roaring on the soundtrack. We caught up with lots of old mates, some of whom we hadn't seen for years. [livejournal.com profile] mondyboy had his t-shirt on inside out the whole time. I was stunned by the gorgeousness of [livejournal.com profile] whochick and [livejournal.com profile] bellyra. I was adopted by the tiny, mad, and marvellous Barbara Joss, who played Nemini in The Web Planet. Everyone who queued up for her autograph had to ask for Jon and mine as well so as not to look rude, ha ha ha! The only bum note was Creepy Racist Guy, who is now openly flogging White Supremacist flags and shit in hucksters; I just hope to Goddess no-one thought my pentacle ear-rings had anything to do with his Celtic flag things. (I was faintly Gothed up in my long-sleeved gravestones T-shirt and a snake thumb-ring.)

My social phobia seems to be cured - six months ago I couldn't have talked to so many people without cringing inside at my every word.

ETA: For those who were worried, Dave's Syndrome is what happens to Manny from Black Books when the temperature hits 88 degrees. :-) "You don't want to know."

You'd have to fasion a water bottle bikini as well as loincloth to remain politically correct. In a Dave's syndrome kind of way. *makes you wear special, cooling booties*

I think you were the only person who knew what I was talking about. :-)

Creepy Racist Guy? I'm sure I know that guy from east-coast gaming cons. Ant had him booted from one con, I'm pretty sure - some of the slogans on the t-shirts the Guy was peddling got the Ant-Man pretty steamed.

D'you mean my brother the Ant-Man, or some sort of enormous insect? :-)

Ant-Man was a founding member of the Avengers.

Oh, I mean your brother, the enormous insect. I refer to him upon occasion as the Amazing Ant-Man.

It was awesome hearing you speak and getting to chat with you and Jon. Has to be done again.
