Battlestar Galactica

Pix and SPOILERS behind the cut. Summary: incredibly brilliant show, a feminist quibble, James Callis easy on the eyes.

But will they have Patrick Macnee as the Devil? )

Carmen Lawrence for Shadow Immigration Minister!

Got this in my email - a campaign to ask Labor to appoint pro-refugee MP Carmen Lawrence as Shadow Immigration Minister. What a good idea! I hear her speak at a meeting on refugees and she was terrific. Please, take a moment to email Mr Latham right away - the decision will be made in the next couple of days. (You don't really need to say anything more than "Dear Mr Latham, please appoint Carmen Lawrence as Shadow Immigration Minister.")

More BSG (no spoilers)

That's Archie?! omfg, it is too!

Is it just me, or does Madam President look a little like Monica Lewinsky?

Meant to grumble at the Trek cliche of alienated son and father. Dad (typically dead, missing, or alienated) is always the most crucial thing in everyone's lives in TNG. (Unless you're Geordi.)

Hee hee for tee vee

Katie Sackhoff, interviewed by Dreamwatch about the relationship between Starbuck and Apollo. Potentially a SPOILER so I've cut it.

BSG

Another thing I meant to grumble mildly about is that "they could be any of us omg" is probably the second creakiest cliche in SF (after "they're invading us omg"). It's certainly well done, but Jon and I have been watching a lot of War of The Worlds lately... from whence, this inadvertent gem:

Blackwood: *feels inside both shirt pockets* I forgot my pen.

Kate: Why is he twiddling his nipples?

Dolphin Guy: It's extremely stimulating.

... the same episode has a dog named Guido who looks like a Klingon.
