SPOILERS for Torchwood: Children of Earth in links and stuff.
Some brilliant responses in the emotional aftermath:
After Elton has been recapping the story as it goes out in the US in the form of Facebook pages: their recap of Day Four gave me a much-needed laugh. :) (But don't stare at the picture at the top for too long or you'll T_T.)
Plus! Buy Ianto A Pony - donations for the small animal rescue charity of which Gareth David-Lloyd is the patron.
Commentary:
From
fajrdrako, The Thirteen Best Things in Torchwood Children of Earth.
A really interesting thought from
shadowsyra: "...it seems to me that Jack is what the Doctor would be if he were human.".
Interviews:
Eve Myles interview.: "Gwen is supposed to be the heart of the team, but you rarely see her laugh... She has to constantly learn. Her life is no longer her own, which highlights how important Gwen is. She’s all business, as opposed to Jack and Ianto, who are sort of the comic relief... She is responsible for a lot of people and she knows it. Gwen is militant yet realistic. She is terrified of making mistakes because it could cost people their lives."
Julie Gardner on the series' future: "We're kind of having conversations now, about what the next step is, because I do think it's fun working on a show that reinvents itself constantly. We're looking at all of this, whether another serial arc, or possibly something else."
GDL interview with a few interesting bits and bobs, and another with a couple of gems: "There's a moment when Jack comes and puts his hand on [Ianto's] back and its almost like - it's like forgiving and starts the healing process, and starts the relationship... it's been great for me because it involves a relationship with the leading man which means I get more lines. (Laughs)"
Teh Barrowsplat: "One thing I didn't know when we were filming it [Captain Jack Harkness], the gentleman who was playing the role, his brother years ago had committed suicide because he was gay. And he said to me afterwards, he was in tears and I thought he was getting upset at something else that I was doing. And he said, 'John, I just want you to know that I am so proud to be doing this with you because if this program had been on when my brother was around, maybe he would have had the confidence to not be unsure of himself and to not have taken his life because he would have had a positive role model.' And that's why he took the role."
ETA: More Barrowsplat: "[Jack] would kiss Gwen on the cheek, but with a little bit of trepidation, because there's almost a sensuality there that he doesn't want to go to." The stars looked lovely at their signings. Also: Mr Barrowman crashes a car.
