At Gally a few years back I brought out the quote - I've forgotten the source - which says roughly "Always write as though you have a snake on your head. That way, when someone asks you how you write, you have something to tell them." (When we were asked what animal we thought "Doctor Who" was, Peter Anghelides said it was a snake that sits on your head.)
