But this morning, while struggling with the latest building inscription, my eye hit a transliterated phrase, and I just read it. Didn't have to go through it syllable by syllable, grammatical component by component, I just read

Congratulations! Always a moment to savor in the study of any language, especially one as challenging as Sumerian. I've never so much as dipped my toe into any cuneiform language. And then I guess with Sumerian one doesn't have the Semitic languages for reinforcement, making it more difficult than, e.g., Akkadian, right?
