Ah, the number of times I've wanted to yell at Spock when he comes out with one of his "logical" deductions: "Based on *WHAT*, ya fraud?!?" =:o}
I have the same problem with a certain Mr. Holmes, in most of his incarnations... Thinking about it, those two really are templates of the type, aren't they? Except that what gets you respected and renowned in fiction, more often just exposes you as a jackass in real life (or even on the internet!). (Note: I speak as one who has all to often been one of those jackasses myself. It's a hard habit to break, even once you've recognised it for what it is. =:o\ )
