But note the government's nonsensical response to HREOC's report on children in immigration detention - that we must abuse these children to discourage people smugglers from bringing more. The government's own policy denies refugees who arrived without visas (which is perfectly legal) from bringing their families to join them: in other words, bring your kids when you flee, or leave them in the dangerous circumstances you fled, and never see them again.
