4. It should convey a sense of spontaneity but eliminate the repetitiveness of real talk.
5. It should keep the story moving forward.
6. It should be revelatory of the speaker's character, both directly and indirectly.
7. It should show the relationships among people.

Jun. 20th, 2004 12:37 pmThe Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics site is quite fun, and not nearly as prissy as it sounds. My favourite bit's the one about the sheer weight of all the ammunition the goodies can spray out of their guns.
Kudos to the Firefly episode Out of Gas for its use of space's utter silence - not just for accuracy, but for the enormous dramatic contrast that results. I also realised that there's a Star Trek-style noisy flyby in the opening credits, but it's justified because the ship's in atmos. A deliberate joke?

Jun. 20th, 2004 01:24 pmIt is wonderful to be loved by cats. Tim follows Jon around and raises the whole front part of his body off the ground in response to a pat on the head. I have a piece of newspaper that I put next to me on the bed so that Frank can sleep on it while I stroke him.
