More political stuff
Oct. 6th, 2004 08:00 pmMore letterboxing omg. Bought a hat and some working sunblock. Was more careful about walking across irregular grassy bits and didn't fall over like yesterday.
I joined the Australian Democrats because of Australia's illegal, cruel, and pointless punishment of refugees. There's a rather good press release from the party on its record of standing up for asylum seekers and refugees. Senator Bartlett sez:
It's outrageous that 3 years ago there was an election where the blowtorch was being put on refugees around the country. Three years later those people are suffering still as a direct consequence of what was done to them three years ago and I have met with the people still locked up on Nauru today. There are thousands of refugees still suffering uncertainty, still being kept separated from their families three years on.
Right on. For me, that's still the reason to drag my butt around suburban streets (trying not to fall onto it).
The Dems also plan a Senate inquiry into this amazing thing where the government might have spent millions in taxpayers' money bribing an oil company to sue Greenpeace. Bloody hell!
