Anti-Depressants
Jan. 27th, 2005 05:02 pmNow Cipramil, and its twin Lexapro, have done wonders for my depression and for my panic anxiety disorder. However, the side-effect - intense drowsiness - has become such a burden that Something Has To Be Done. My shrink suggests that that Thing might be a switch to Aropax.
Now, El Shrink explains that normally people don't have any ill effects when switching from an anti-depressant of a particular type to another of the same type - in this case, from an SSRI to another SSRI. However,
nostalgia_lj has just been through some ugly withdrawal when switching from one SNRI to another SNRI, and I myself am a canary in a coalmine when it comes to side effects. I once stupidly took myself off Cipramil cold turkey, and had a week of hateful flu-likesymptoms.
Anyway, El Shrink suggested that I start by switching from half a Lexapro daily to a quarter Lexapro plus a quarter Aropax, then see how I go before shifting completely to the Aropax. We Shall See.
