Anti-Depressants

Now Cipramil, and its twin Lexapro, have done wonders for my depression and for my panic anxiety disorder. However, the side-effect - intense drowsiness - has become such a burden that Something Has To Be Done. My shrink suggests that that Thing might be a switch to Aropax.

Now, El Shrink explains that normally people don't have any ill effects when switching from an anti-depressant of a particular type to another of the same type - in this case, from an SSRI to another SSRI. However, nostalgia_lj has just been through some ugly withdrawal when switching from one SNRI to another SNRI, and I myself am a canary in a coalmine when it comes to side effects. I once stupidly took myself off Cipramil cold turkey, and had a week of hateful flu-likesymptoms.

Anyway, El Shrink suggested that I start by switching from half a Lexapro daily to a quarter Lexapro plus a quarter Aropax, then see how I go before shifting completely to the Aropax. We Shall See.

The A-Team

Ladeez and germs, The A-Team presents that rarest and most precious of scenes on the small or big screen: a woman successfully fights off a would-be rapist. Better still, in A Nice Place to Visit, two women cooperate to fight off two rapists. While our manly heroes have been ignominiously dumped outside town, plucky reporter Amy fends off the villains with hot coffee and a fire extinguisher, while pregnant widow Trish searches for ammunition and loads a rifle. Finally, Amy sees the rapists off with a warning shout and a warning shot. (To be fair, the unexpected arrival of the men prevents the rapists returning with a machine-gun - but, as in ST: TNG's Violation, you may only need to fight until help arrives.)

I'd love to make a list of films and shows which include those too-rare scenes of a woman successfully fending off an attempted rape - anybody got any more examples? (There's one in my fave film Hundra.)
