I'm so used to outpourings of ignorance and loathing when it comes to Andrea Dworkin that I was relieved to read a respectful, balanced obit in the Washington Post, accompanied by a rather lovely portrait. It's a comfort to be reminded that the media is not the exclusive habitat of trolls.

Shortly we're off to Dulles for the first leg of the 30 hour journey home. What an incredible five weeks it's been. We have experienced so much kindness and generosity from family, friends, and total strangers. I've done remarkable things: rode the New York subway solo, walked through hail in Porthmadoc, made love in Paris - even interviewed Russell T. Davies. Now I'm ready to go back to my normal life, see my parents and my pwdins, eat some ordinary food, hill my spuds, write my novels, go to work, feel the autumn cold after being lucky enough to see the Washington spring. Life is good. Thank you all. :-x
