Feb. 3rd, 2006 12:26 pmI'm watching The Best of the Two Ronnies, which contains a frightening number of sketches and gags I remember. ("At St Pansy's Primary, you could have a reign of terror with a balloon on a stick"). I find myself glad that TV is much more frank these days; the schoolboy smut of seventies British comedy made sex seem the equivalent of going to the toilet (or indeed, sitting on the dougnut in Grannie's greenhouse) - about as appealing as a fart. But au pairs and lavatories aside, there's fantastic wordplay and comic timing. I defy anyone but Ronnie Barker to rattle off "King Jockocatepetl's popstrap."
