Major changes will be introduced to how the legal system handles
sexual assault in NSW, with new consent laws, training for court staff, specialist centres for victims, and reforms to make giving evidence less stressful.
The SMH reported on 13 October that Federal Health Minister Tony Abbott was sitting on a
IVF report whose conclusions he didn't like. I'm just going to go and see if it's been extracted from under him and made public. (I confess I am not a great fan of reproductive technology, which I think has often been used to exploit women, but I also understand that my own urge to have a child is very slight compared to other people's; in the end it's no more my business than it is Mr Abbot's.) ETA: Abbott has promised to release the report
by year's end.
