Saw my shrink's locum yesterday. Am sane. Bursts of terrific enthusiasm apparently normal for human beings and not signs of bipolar. My sleep has absolutely gone to hell over the last week, but he's given me some mild sleeping pills, so I managed eight hours uninterrupted last night. I still feel like something at the bottom of the rubbish bin tho.

The sheer force of nano killed Jon's laptop! Fortunately [livejournal.com profile] shellshear came over and created a Frankenstein monster out of my Windows 95 machine and a box thrown out from Jon's work.

I asked someone from Sydney Buses about the driver from last week's crash; their understanding was that he'd had successful surgery and was recovering in hospital. (The hospital won't tell me anything without the man's name. Fairy Nuff.)

ETA: Sydney Buses called to check in on me (and are sending me free tickets yay!). The driver's at home, is cheerful, and is recovering well. His injuries were not severe - like all of us, he was lucky.

When the Doctors Meet ep. 24

Australia's banana industry is recovering, but prices haven't come down yet, and even when they do probably won't be as low as they were before.

Chrissy presents! Check out UNICEF for cards, toys, and grownup gifts - or for a different approach to gift giving, have a look at The World's Most Useful Gift Catalogue, where a five dollar donation buys an eye exam or school supplies, ten bucks buys a mosquito net to prevent malaria, and fifty bucks buys a goat!

I will say this. I'm Australian and even I know what the Welsh Not is.

That reminds me, she said, desperately staving off writing the last 500 words of the day. I was idly trying to list all the words I could think of to describe my identity. Strictly in no order, and with lots of overlap:

I'm a het White Anglo English-speaking Doctor Who fangirl married Australian lefty feminist Zen childless chronically ill Sydney-sider writer Orman woman witch with a BSc, anxiety and depression, and two cats.

(I can't think of a term to describe someone who socialises primarily through the Internet.)

Amnesty International is holding a Write-A-Thon between now and 10 December (Human Rights Day). I figured we could hold our own Group Write-a-thon right here on LJ. :-)

All you need to do is:

- Download the Individual Write-A-Thon Kit

- Pick a current campaign or a specific case to write about.

- Write your letter and mail it off.

The kit includes a letter-writing guide.

If you like, repost this info in your own LJ, and/or comment here - it'd be interesting to know how many letters LJers sent. :-) (This isn't an official AI message. Visit Amnesty's Write-A-Thon page for the official information.)
