The Goths were persecuted for Columbine. Now it's the turn of emo, after the suicides of two Australian schoolgirls. (And long before either tragedy, role-players were under a similar spotlight for our supposed occult activities.) When will the subcultures catch a break, and the media start hounding the school bullies who motivated both events? Is the media persecution just a blownup, grownup edition of the harassment and ostracisation? When will young men and women's pain start being taken seriously?
