Bernice Summerfield: Nobody's Children is now available for order! It's a novel told in three novellas, two by Jon and I, and one by Philip Purser-Hallard. Writing it was an absolute blast and I think we came up with some pretty cool storytelling.

Proposed Australian anti-boycott law

A proposed new law, Trade Practices Amendment (Small Business Protection) Bill 2007, would allow industries to retaliate against anyone calling for a boycott against their products - not just small business, but huge corporations. This would directly gag bloggers like myself, who might suggest you avoid buying cage eggs, veal, genetically modified foods (at least until they've been properly tested for safety), goods advertised with sexism, etc.

The Labor party is still making its mind up about whether to support the Bill - please write a couple of lines to your local Labor member or candidate opposing the Bill, or directly to Labor leader Kevin Rudd:

Today's writing work

Sorting through my bulging collection of "Writing Ideas" - mostly clippings, and some scribbled notes: story ideas, scene ideas, bits of trivia, notes about writing itself. Pulled out quite a few things of use for the two SF novels I'm working on right now, Little Wasp and (boring working title) Earth Park. (Frank and Tim helped, as usual.)
