I can stop any time I want
Mar. 2nd, 2008 07:13 pmFebruary was even worse than January in terms of the sheer volume of, er, volumes I brought into the house. I had to return some books half-read because I forgot to renew them. Keeping a list of read books is for boasting purposes, of course, but keeping a list of the borrowed and bought ones is useful for a different reason - it's suddenly very visible how much money and time the damn things are eating up.
Of the books I read in February, my pick is John Barrowman's autobiography Anything Goes. Never a dull moment. (It would have been Magnus Mill's All Quiet on the Orient Express, but I felt that book was too similar to his terrific first novel, The Restraint of Beasts.)
Went a bit crazy today and rearranged the bookshelves. About a dozen books fell out of the collection and into the "begone" pile, so that at least was useful.
