Gobsmacked to learn that a Queensland woman and her partner have been charged with a crime for obtaining a
medical abortion (that is, using a medication rather than surgery). Both of them could be sentenced to ten or more years' prison. Unsurprisingly, doctors have stopped prescribing the drugs.
There's a big difference between a firebomb and an unjust law, but there's a clear parallel here with clinic violence: the use of threats to scare women away from abortion. Enough is enough. It's time for
law reform in NSW and QLD. Please write to your newspaper and to your local member in
