It's illegal, of course, and now that a couple has spoken up, everyone's response is basically "... the hell?!" I don't think this guy's going to remain a JP for long. What worries me is that he managed to get away with it for two and a half years. How many other petty officials are there out there, misusing their small powers in this way?
