Strange Flesh Week 13
Mar. 30th, 2013 05:15 pmThe slow, difficult, but successful restructuring and rewriting of parts 2 and 3 continues. I expect to be able to restart my word counter next week.
Recently re-read the SF classic The Demolished Man. Harry Harrison's intro remarks of Alfred Bester, "He had cut his teeth in the comics where he learned color, action, and motion: the POW! and ZAP! of the artists. He learned to write visually and evoke those feelings in the reader." It reminded me of the New Adventures, where you can see the influence of JNT-era Doctor Who on my writing - the constant cutting back and forth between scenes, for example, and crazy devices like the "paused videotape" in The Left-Handed Hummingbird.
