Arguing online
Jul. 5th, 2018 10:40 amRecently I've been arguing on Reddit about refugees - answering honest questions, countering falsehoods, giving alternatives, etc. I think this is worth it to an extent - if nothing else I've learned a few things - but I have quickly rediscovered something about online debates: they take up all your free time. I don't mean that they're addictive, although they are. I mean you find yourself thinking about them constantly, in the shower, in the middle of the night. I need that time for thinking about writing. My cognitive capacity is limited as it is and I have to devote it to getting my arse into print. There are other ways to help.
