Oct. 19th, 2018 10:34 amYesterday Jon I and rescued three kittens from a pile of refuse. Today they're going to a rescue organisation to be rehomed.
We recently watched the Star Trek: the Next Generation episode "Genesis", a highlight of which is Data's cat Spot having kittens. He's not sure who the father is. At first I was surprised at Starfleet being so irresponsible as to let undesexed cats roam the Enterprise freely. Then I remembered that this is a post-scarcity society: they don't have to desex their cats, because they can and will care for any kittens. Just as any child born into this utopia will have all their needs met. To the best of my understanding, we could do the same irl, but we've chosen not to.
