I really like the character and performance, and the sheer ballsiness of making the Master a woman in the first place. But my enjoyment is dampened by the constant reminders (a) that she's a girl (how often did previous Masters refer to their gender?) and (b) that this means the Master's extremely close relationship with the Doctor can now be explicitly romantic. It's the oddest "nailing down" of a character as heterosexual that I've ever seen.
