- Is "venison" right? Were there deer about? The RSV has "game" instead.
- I decline to embarrass myself by mentioning the TNG episode Brothers, where I first encountered this story.
- Nasty bit of blasphemy in verse 20. Naughty Jacob.
- Is Rebekah's motive in this bit of Lady Macbeth connivance because of Esau's taking non-Hebrew wives? At the end of the chapter she laments the possibility of Jacob doing the same.
