Llyn ( murasaki_1966 ) is still raging, and is currently killing pirates to get it out of her system.
This was a massive swing (a worse swing than 2001) against progressives (though the greens seemed to have picked up) and a confirmation of the power of the religious right in Australia. I'm still hoping Ross Cameron goes down (we moved the weekend before the election, but made sure we could try and vote him out) but I think we're looking at a lot more regressive laws (such as Internet censorship) in place by the 2007 election.
Latham, as far as I was concerned, did not differentiate himself enough from the Libs for people to think he was a viable alternative. But we have to accept the overall fact that the Australian public are extremely happy with the Libs, despite their constant lying, corruption and violation of human rights.
Gee - I wish I had something more positive to say, but I don't.
Doom and gloom, etc, etc
