It continues to surprise and please me, that as someone who was schooled in Catholic institutions, I can still pick up something like The Gospel of Thomas and really feel it call to me.
I'm a practicing pagan ... and strangely, I think that has acted to enhance my own personal experience of Christ.
Then again, my favourite scriptures are those deemed blasphemous by the Roman Catholic Church, so that kind of shoots my theory down in flames.
