Church must make abortion case: Jensen. The head of the Anglican Church in Sydney makes the church's goal clear - getting public support for banning abortion. (The diocese has released an anti-abortion position paper.) Jensen particularly mentions late-term abortion. Since the overwhelming majority of these are carried out because the foetus is severely deformed or the mother's health is in serious danger, his first step should be to establish a church fund for adopting and caring for extremely disabled infants, and of course free funerals for former expectant mothers.
From the other side of the fence: Catholic taskforce to act on abortion. It is very difficult to take at face value their call for women to have "options" and "alternatives" to abortion - of course women should, but it's hard to believe this isn't code for banning the operation. I would not trust them to give me unbiased pregnancy counselling. They also persist in the discredited claim of a rise in abortions, and mention late-term abortions, so they'll obviously want to contribute to that fund Jensen ought to set up.
