Yeah, try avoiding JPG until you're ready to save the final version for the Web - also save a GIF version, and compare how they look. JPG is a "lossy" compression which sometimes looks fine and sometimes looks like a blurry TV signal. (You can also try turning up the quality of the JPG all the way - it won't add a whole lot of extra size to a icon-sized picture.) The main thing is to experiment and fiddle. Isn't it fun!?!?
